Bam Margera is reportedly heading to rehab after a recent relapse and DUI arrest.
The pro skater, Jackass and CKY star is going to do a ‘couple of gigs’ in LA before checking into a ‘California rehab facility’ on Friday (January 12).
Bam’s mum, April, told TMZ he’ll fulfil commitments he made to shoot a TV show on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to E! April said:
He feels a lot better. He had a bad night. He’s embarrassed by it. He’s mad at himself for being stupid.
Now he just wants to pick up the pieces and move forward for himself and for his family.
April said she and her husband Phil researched rehab centres to help their son pick the right one and his wife, Nicole, is also helping and supporting him.
Johnny Schillereff, who is Bam’s pal and CEO of Element Skateboards, is reportedly the one to have taken the reins in getting him help.
Bam reportedly drove past CHP officers, who were in the middle of stopping someone else and when they spoke with him, they noticed the strong smell of alcohol on his breath.
Police officers then him to pull over before booking Bam with DUI – his bail was set at $15k and was later released after paying it himself.
After his DUI arrest, according to TMZ, the first thing Bam said was how he wants to be there for his wife and their newborn son, Phoenix.
This is thought to be Bam’s first DUI but he’s battled alcohol abuse for many years – he and his wife had a son in December and he spoke out about embracing sobriety.
Prior to the incident, he’d been away from the limelight for some time and admitted to battling alcoholism and drug abuse following the untimely death of his best friend Ryan Dunn in 2011.
While already supposedly a big drinker and drug-taker, Bam fell into a downward spiral behind closed doors.
For five years he remained focused on getting back to health, however, since getting clean, the pro-skater was back doing what he loves the most – besides performing ridiculous stunts – skateboarding.
Recently the 38-year-old skateboarder spoke out about the disturbing story of when he was allegedly raped.
Talking on a podcast, the pro-skateboarder recalled the alleged encounter which took place in Arizona while he was drunk on whiskey partying with Jackass co-star Brandon Novak.
Bam said while he was asleep, Novak told the woman where Bam was and told her to ‘have at it’.
Watch the clip of Bam talking on the Nine Club With Chris Roberts here:
Bam allegedly woke up to the woman having sex with him and telling him she loved him.
I’m like: ‘Who are you? Get the f*ck out, like get away, what just happened?’
Roberts is heard interrupting and says ‘you got raped’.
When anybody says a guy can’t get raped by a girl, that’s false, because it happened to me.
We hope Bam gets the help he needs.
